The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread

Fresh bread has long been known as the "staff of life," and this year, thanks to the kind generosity of Forest Glen Bakery, having fresh bread has played an important role in supporting our young mums and their families.

We are incredibly grateful for their weekly donation of fresh bread, bread rolls and pull-aparts, which have become valuable staples within our program. These simple yet essential items have not only provided nourishment and comfort but endless opportunities for creative cooking experiences that bring learning to life.

Not only have our young mums, enjoyed making and sharing hearty breakfasts for their children with fresh toast and creating sandwiches for lunches, our mums and children have been enjoying making their own version of garlic bread using crusty bread rolls with warming pumpkin soup. Our budding young chefs have also transformed bread into ‘pie shells’ for delicious mini quiches and embraced classic comfort food by making ‘toad in the hole’, developing practical life skills, confidence and independence along the way.

At the heart of STEMM is the belief that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through hands on cooking experiences, mums and their children develop early literacy and numeracy skills, explore science concepts, strengthen social connections and gain a deeper understanding of healthy food choices.

Forest Glen Bakery, your kindness has helped ensure that every family can continue to break bread, build skills and create brighter futures.
